The British Embassy in Kuwait has a vacancy for a Programme and Administrative Support Officer, job grade Administrative Officer (AO) on a permanent contract.
Main purpose of the Job:
The role provides comprehensive programme and administrative support to the British Embassy, contributing to the delivery of UK objectives in Kuwait.
The jobholder will support in the management of UK programming in Kuwait, primarily through the Gulf Strategy Fund, as part of the Embassy’s Political Section. In this capacity, they will contribute to programme and project work that supports the delivery of UK policy priorities in Kuwait.
The role also includes providing administrative and logistical support, including coordinating relevant meetings, managing contact lists, and maintaining programme and financial records. The jobholder will work closely with colleagues and partners to support effective programme delivery, while contributing to day-to-day coordination, admin support, and implementation of projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Programme Support:
- Support the Project Manager with the programme management of the UK’s Kuwait programmes, including engagement with implementing partners and stakeholders, contributing to monitoring and evaluation, and assisting with financial reporting and budget tracking.
- Assist in the development and design of future programmes, including research and administrative coordination.
- Provide support in monitoring relevant programme budgets, ensuring accurate record-keeping and tracking of expenditure.
- Work with the Communications Team to help highlight projects and showcase how the Embassy is delivering impact.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with the wider British Embassy team, the Gulf network, the UK Gulf Science and Innovation Network, the British Council, and other partners.
- Ensure compliance with the FCDO Programme Operating Framework, including maintaining appropriate documentation and processes.
- Assist in monitoring the delegated programme budget, maintaining accurate records of project allocations, and tracking monthly and forecasted spend.
Administrative Support:
- Provide logistical support for relevant visits, events and external meetings.
- Provide general administrative and logistical support to the Programmes team.
- Coordinate meetings and calls, including scheduling, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
- Maintain and update programme documentation, financial records, and internal tracking systems.
- Update and manage relevant contact lists and stakeholder databases.
- Undertake other duties as required.
The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the Embassy’s emergency planning and any response to a crisis.

Working conditions and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of KWD 844.098 per month. The package includes a good level of medical insurance, a return flight fare to your home country for non-Kuwaitis every year, relevant social security payments for Kuwaiti nationals, and an engaging working environment. Leave entitlement is 30 days per year (on pro rata basis) plus 14 public holidays.
There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
This position is for a full-time employment, on a permanent contract, subject to a 90 working day probationary period.
Conditioned working hours are 38 hours gross per week (this is made up of 35.5 hours net per week and a daily 30-minute lunch break). The normal working hours are 07:30 – 15:30 from Sunday to Wednesday and 07:30 – 13:30 on Thursday.
The Embassy has an active Learning and Development Committee, and the whole of Post is committed to providing the time and resources for staff to develop personally and professionally. The 70/20/10 learning and development model is applied in a flexible manner, with extensive informal and formal opportunities readily available. There will likely be an expectation of undertaking training specific to crisis response/ management in 2026.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two-three months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidates’ profile and UK footprint. Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of six (6) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
