Main Purpose:
To support development of British High Commission Colombo’s migration policy and deliver programme interventions that reduce irregular migration from Sri Lanka to the UK.
We reserve the right to review, revise or amend the roles and responsibilities from time to time reflecting the changing needs of business.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
Policy & Stakeholder Engagement (50%)
- Provide analysis and reporting on migration trends from Sri Lanka to the UK.
- Build and maintain contacts with key migration stakeholders, including international partners, civil society and Sri Lankan policymakers and law enforcement.
- Work with London and the region to ensure our work in Sri Lanka is aligned with wider UK migration priorities.
- Work with Political and Comms leads to develop communications and engagement strategies for migration.
Programmes (50%)
- Provide advice and support the design and delivery of effective programmes that tackle organised immigration crime.
- Manage relationships with project implementers
- Lead on direct-delivery programme logistics (e.g. coordinating venue, transport, accommodation).
- Quarterly programme reporting.
- Monitoring and evaluation.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
The role will manage a small programme budget, supporting the Head of Team’s overall responsibility for migration programme spend.

Language: English and one of either Sinhala or Tamil

For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC candidates, starting salary will be LKR 332,467+12% EPF+3% ETF per month. Other benefits include 13 month’s salary (pro-rated) and medical insurance coverage.
