Main purpose of job

An opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to join DBT Asia Pacific as Business Analysis & Reporting Officer for the Asia Pacific region – an important operational data role at the heart of operations, reporting to the Head of Finance and Operations.

Detail

The successful candidate will support DBT APAC delivery by providing data tools, upskilling and analysis for the network. Your dashboards and analysis work will underpin an evidence-based approach to strategic decision-making across the organisation, ultimately driving productivity.

Working within the central operations team, you will build and maintain top quality government dashboards as well as draw on external data platforms to provide engaging data insights and reports. You will guide and tutor the network on how to use data within their work, promoting the effective use of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. You will also serve a helpdesk function by working with colleagues across 15 markets to support their use of the data. The performance dashboards and data products you produce will inform good governance, performance tracking, line management, and ultimately resourcing decisions. Your work on upskilling will drive a data culture within the organisation and present new, exciting tools.

You will have a background working with data to steer operational decisions for organisations and will be adept at presenting it in a way that is engaging and practically useful. With a keen eye for detail, you will have a passion for data and be skilled at working with people to drive analysis usage. The role will also need flexibility, adapting to changes in data requirements as they happen and producing ad-hoc data products on demand, such as internal analysis reports. You will be confident in engaging senior government officials across the APAC region and the UK regions.

1. Dashboard creation, maintenance, and analysis – 40%

  • Design, build and maintain accurate, insightful, and engaging dashboards by working with central colleagues and country teams.
  • Provide data insights and use your to skills to advise on how dashboards can be improved.
  • Work with teams to scrub datasets and establish ongoing routines concerning CRM data cleansing.
  • Send dashboards alongside communication of initiatives to drive the use and application of the data you provide.

2. Data analysis and reporting – 30%

  • Deliver at pace to provide high-quality, accurate and insightful analysis in response to ad-hoc requests from senior leadership.
  • With the Line Manager and Strategy Director, undertake deep dive reports to provide and deliver insights that can be used by Senior Leadership Team to drive positive strategic change within the organisation, such as changes to sector strategies.
  • Using external data sources such as FDI Markets OEC and ITC, to provide sector and country insights for colleagues across the network.
  • Use internal and external data sources to benchmark against other countries, analyse sector trends and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Use internal and external data resources to identify high quality leads based on sector strategies, providing systems for sharing and measuring impact.

3. Helpdesk, CRM, and support function – 25%

  • As network CRM champion you will drive and support internal comms initiatives to increase usage of DBT’s CRM system across the network.
  • Provide systems to support quality CRM data input in a timely manner, conducting quality control of datasets.
  • Quickly respond to sector team requests for dashboard updates and changes, using your DBT operational knowledge to make recommendations.
  • As the only data specialist supporting objectives across the organisation of 15 markets and 280 colleagues, you will serve a helpdesk function for CRM enquiries and support.
  • Use your deep understanding of DBT performance metrics, best practice, and performance frameworks to support colleagues across the region with data advice and insights.
  • With guidance from Investment and Operations Strategy Director and Head of Finance and Operations, co-design and deliver an engaging curriculum for the network to drive understanding how the CRM system and other data sources can support DBT work.

4. One HMG collaboration & other – 5%

  • Provide administration support, such as data collection, information dissemination and monitoring of returns for submission to HQ, to our  Investment Operations and Strategy Director.
  • Ensure relevant information, opportunities and best practice are understood and shared across the network through demo session, learning opportunities/ trainings to our respective markets.
  • Support the Embassy and HMG in cross-cutting commercial activity, such as visits and events on occasional basis.

  • Excellent/highly proficient in English
  • Proven experience working with data or within a business consultancy firm
  • Experience on data models, data analysis and segmentation techniques
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical tools
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings with infographics.

  • Skills and experience working with Quicksight
  • Skills and experience working with SQL coding
  • Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
  • Experience working with CRM systems
  • Experience in handling data analysis contracts with third parties
  • Previous experience working in complex government organisations
  • Experience of working with or within UK HMG and an established network
  • Understanding of how government works
