Main purpose of job:
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the British Embassy’s expanding economics and climate team within the Policy and Programmes Section.
The Economics and Climate Support Officer will provide assistance to the team in helping deliver the country goals and outcomes through policy, programme and administrative support. This includes carrying out tasks related to pursuing the economic development agenda of the team and providing support to the climate ambition of the FCDO in the country.
The successful candidate will work across a dynamic team in the Embassy. S/he will report to the Head of Economic and Social Development.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Policy support
Monitoring and reporting Philippine policy developments related to economics and climate as inputs to policy reports led by sector advisors in the team
Programme support
Providing support to programme leads in the economic and climate team by helping manage programmes, coordinating across teams and reporting on project progress in line with the FCDO Programme Operating Framework (PrOF) and best practice.
Administrative and logistics support
• Providing both administrative and logistics support to the Economics and Climate Counsellor and the wider economics and climate team, including organising meetings and events, booking travel, and liaising with external organisations.
• Providing support in maintaining a network of contacts across government, media and civil society in the economics and climate space.
• Managing the team financial updates and coordination
Public diplomacy/ Communications
Working with the Public Diplomacy team in the Embassy to ensure that proactive communications that actively support the UK economic and climate agenda.
Corporate
Supporting the wider Embassy teams on events and visits related to policy and programmes as well as Embassy values towards an inclusive and supportive work environment.

- Knowledge or experience of working on economics, climate and wider development agenda.
- An ability to think and act independently and work with a range of stakeholders to deliver at pace.
- Confidence, flexibility, and ability to cope under pressure and with changing priorities.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Proven record of high quality delivering, including accuracy and attention to detail.

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy Manila is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Philippine employment law.
No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. All candidates must be legally able to work and reside in the country of the vacancy with the correct visa/work permit status or demonstrate eligibility to obtain the relevant permit. Any costs related to obtaining or renewing permits and visas are the responsibility of the successful applicant.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
Candidates are expected to have a valid NBI Clearance.
