Main purpose of job:
We are recruiting for an intern to join the British Embassy Manila’s Public Diplomacy team.
This is an engaging and rewarding role helping to enhance the profile of the UK and communicate the British Embassy’s priorities through creative, high-impact campaigns and events.
This internship will support the delivery of flagship Embassy events, including the King’s Birthday Party and the Great British Festival 2024. The intern will design and draft social media content and contribute to the planning and delivery of cultural diplomacy campaigns. We also encourage interns to come forward with creative ideas to support the delivery of our campaign goals.
Joining a dynamic and fast-paced team, this internship is an great opportunity to work closely with senior diplomats and to learn how events and communications form a core part of diplomatic tradecraft. As a part of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s global network, this internship offers unrivalled insights into diplomatic communications, as well as a range of learning and development opportunities.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
The job holder will:
- Provide support to the implementation of the Embassy’s communications campaigns and high-profile events, including activities for UK-PH Friendship Day, the King’s Birthday Party, the Great British Festival and a regional Diplomatic Communications conference.
- Assist with the development of high quality, engaging digital content to be used across social media and other digital channels. This includes: video / imagery; event photography; social media content; (info)graphic design; digital asset management; writing and editing.
- Contribute to social media content calendars, monitoring of social media channels around priority and emerging issues for the UK government; social media analysis and evaluation; and identifying opportunities to reach existing and new audiences and to shape these conversations through both social and traditional media.
- Provide general communications and administrative support to the Public Diplomacy team, such as updating our press database and our forward planning tools.

- A passion for communications, with a keen interest in digital communications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be proactive and able to learn quickly.
- Proficiency or some experience in Adobe Creative suite and Social Media tools
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- A broad understanding of the Philippines political, economic, media and cultural environments; an active interest in Philippines and global current affairs; and awareness of the role of the UK.

- This is an excellent opportunity for a creative individual with a background in digital communications and/or an active interest in digital media.
- Experience and/or knowledge related to digital content creation, content management, social community management, social listening, web editing, graphic design, digital photography and video production.
- An understanding of current digital trends and practical knowledge of using digital tools (social media, blogs, listicles, sharable videos and articles, curated and crowd-sourced content, infographics)
- A familiarity with events management would be an advantage.

The role being advertised is a full-time internship for nine (9) months, with a stipend of PhP10,500 per month.
Work Hours:
There can be some flexibility in the work pattern. The intern may be required to work beyond normal office hours during the conduct of trade and investment related events organised by DBT/British Embassy.
Other Information:
No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. You must have work authorisation for the Philippines in order to apply.
Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks.
Candidates are expected to have a valid NBI Clearance.
