The British Embassy in Rabat invites applications for the position of International Liaison Officer (ILO) under the Home Office International Operations (HOIO), job grade Executive Officer (EO) on a permanent contract.

Home Office International Operations (HOIO) operates to prevent illegal immigration and disrupt the organised immigration crime groups behind it, supporting both the Immigration Enforcement mission and the Home Office purpose. We have staff deployed in locations across the world.

In order to meet Home Office security requirements, you must be able to pass security clearance to SC(O) level.
You must have excellent interpersonal skills that you can use strategically to build relationships with key partners to assist Home Office International Operations in delivering their objectives. Face to face work is a fundamental part of the job, as is the delivery of training, so the successful candidate should be prepared to do public speaking.
The role of ILO is extremely varied. The challenge with all HOIO work is to deliver both the reactive elements such as air calls and requests for support from visa section, as well as the pro-active elements such as intelligence research and liaison with stakeholders. As such, ILOs need be able to manage very challenging workloads, deliver at pace and be flexible in support of business aims. Once trained, the successful candidate should be able to work towards objectives with minimal supervision.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of MAD 25,793 per month. However, employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
The package includes a good level of medical insurance, 21 days of annual leave (calculated on pro rata basis) plus 14 public holidays, access to on-site swimming pool, tennis court and gym facilities.
There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
The contract will be for a full-time employment, on a permanent contract, subject to three (3) months’ probation period initially and can be extended up to another three (3) months.
Conditioned working hours for the position are 38 hours per week. Normal office hours are from Mondays to Thursdays from 08:00-16:15 and Fridays from 08:00-13:00. The jobholder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked, often starting early or working late, there will also be occasional out of hours duty phone function, and the successful candidate will be expected to provide coverage on rotation with existing team members.
There will be some regional travel, but this will be limited. The role necessitates travel for liaison, training, site visits and meetings. Most of this can be done in a day but some overnight stays will be required.
Flexible working arrangement may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies. Independent working will be evaluated as a behaviour in interviews.
The Embassy and the FCDO have a strong commitment to learning and development, and all staff are required to agree on a learning and development plan with their line manager to keep track of their learning objectives and journey. The jobholder will also be required to undertake a number of mandatory training courses as part of their role.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around 2-3 months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and in the UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidate’s profile and UK footprint. Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of twelve (12) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
