Main purpose of job:
The Multi-skilled Technician will be expected to provide high-quality, multi-disciplinary maintenance support across the British High Commission’s facilities, ensuring all systems and structures are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
The British High Commission Nairobi recently completed phase 1 of renovating and upgrading our office space to a modern working environment. The Multi-Skilled Technician will play a critical role in the future maintenance of this modern workspace and onboarding of future workspaces in phase 2 of the project (expected to run until February 2026).
Roles and responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance across multiple trades.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical systems, including lighting, sockets, and distribution boards.
- Carry out plumbing repairs and installations (e.g., taps, toilets, drainage).
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks for structural repairs or custom fittings.
- Execute general handyman duties such as door repairs, furniture assembly, and minor masonry.
- Prepare and paint surfaces to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Hang shelves, pictures, signages at a level and professional appearance, not causing damages to surrounding spaces in the course of their work.
- Assist with planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and internal standards

Proven experience in at least three or more of the following areas:
- Electrical maintenance and repair
- Plumbing systems
- Welding and metal fabrication
- General handyman tasks
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

- Relevant trade certification(s) in electrical, Welding & fabrication, plumbing, painting & decoration, Masonry or mechanical fields.
- Health and Safety training (e.g., Safe Work Procedures, PPE use).
- Additional certifications in welding, or painting are an advantage
