Main Purpose of Job:
Reporting to the Deputy High Commissioner, the Corporate Services and Security Manager (CSSM) is a key member of the British High Commission, managing a small team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of corporate and security services.
The successful applicant will have strategic responsibility for ensuring finance delivery, security and HR policy is in line with best practice guidance set in London as well as compliant with local law. The central part of this role is working closely with the Deputy High Commissioner to ensure that the Corporate Services team delivers results.
What the Jobholder will be Expected to Achieve:
Corporate
- Strategic oversight of the day-to-day management of the High Commission corporate functions
- Implement existing corporate and HR policies and best practice on procurement, ensuring the High Commission achieves maximum value for money
Finance
- Lead on the management of the High Commission budget, in close liaison with budget holders the Finance Officer and Finance Hub in Manila
- Oversee the end of month account procedures
Estates
- Maintain oversight of the High Commission estate in line with Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) policy, acting as senior liaison between the FCDO, landlords and local suppliers/contractors
- Tender and manage contracts and supplier performance, communicating requirements, monitoring implementation and making sure that service level agreements are met
Security
- Strategic oversight of the High Commission’s security and transport functions
- Oversight of the security contract, ensuring that key performance indicators are met
Management
- Motivate and develop the Corporate Services Team with direct line management of the Finance Officer, Receptionist and Estates Officer
Resources Managed (staff and expenditure): 3 members of staff

This role is open to UK / Australian / Canadian / New Zealand / US passport holder ONLY, ideally with Diplomatic accreditation.
- At least three years relevant experience in either the public or private sector and preferably with direct involvement in management, finance, HR, estates operations, policy and implementation
- Experience in managing and/or working in cross-functional teams
- Good command of both written and spoken English is essential. Ability to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely
- A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to engage at all levels; ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
- Strong customer service skills. Ability to show discretion in handling sensitive information
- Team player, willing to work collaboratively and effectively with contacts and colleagues
- Resilient and flexible. Ability to multi-task
- Good organisational, problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong financial management and IT skills, proficient in MS Office applications
- Ability to plan and prioritise
- Personal initiative, drive and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Language Requirements: Fluent English

This role is advertised as a 2-year fixed term renewable contract.

The successful candidate must be a UK / Australian / Canadian / New Zealand / US passport holder and able to obtain a valid Police Clearance Certificate. Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable clearances.
Working Pattern: Full time – 39 hours per week (Monday to Thursday: 0745 – 1615 tendersglobal.net Friday: 0745 – 1245)
Flexible working is possible dependent on IT availability and specific work requirements. Requests should be discussed with the hiring manager.
