The British Embassy Copenhagen is part of a world-wide network representing UK’s political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are currently recruiting a student to join our Political Team.

Our high performing Political Team at the British Embassy Copenhagen covers Foreign, Security and Climate Policy, Communications and Public Diplomacy. You will be assisting our work on fostering the UK-Danish relationship on a wide array of policy priorities: growth and prosperity, foreign and security policy, wider EU relations, migration, climate and energy, and development. You will also be helping to organise exciting embassy events and the outwards image of the embassy via social media.
The Political and Communications Intern will be a valued member of the Political Team. Our intern will assist with political reporting on a range of topical issues, the organisation of high-level visits and administrative tasks, and assist in the day-to-day running of the Embassy’s external communications and events activity. Our intern will assist with policy research, as well as digital and social media content planning.
The Political and Communications Intern will help to promote a strong, productive and mutually beneficial UK-Denmark bilateral relationship; and promote the UK, and its values and culture in Denmark. The internship offers a great opportunity to gain first hand exposure to diplomacy, to develop transferable skills and create networks that will add depth and breadth to your CV/resume, and provide an excellent foundation for your future career.
What will you be expected to achieve?
During the internship, you will gain insight into, and become actively involved in a variety of interesting areas related to policy and communications, through activities such as:
- Researching and reporting on key political and policy developments;
- Helping to arrange visits of senior Government officials and Ministers;
- Attending events/conferences/meetings on the Embassy’s behalf and building a network of contacts;
- Contributing to the Embassy’s work and preparation around Denmark’s Presidency of the Council of the EU and European Political Community (EPC) meeting;
- Assisting in the development, creation and management of digital and social media strategies and content;
- Monitoring similar organisations’ digital outputs;
- Ad hoc policy, communications, public diplomacy and administrative tasks.

- Fluency in English (minimum of B2 level according to CEFR* or equivalent)
- Fluency in Danish (minimum of C1 level according to CEFR* or equivalent)
- A strong interest in politics and/or communications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team player
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and work
- The selected candidate must be enrolled in university and remain studying for the entire duration of the internship period
