Main Purpose of Job: The British Embassy in Mexico is part of a worldwide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We have an exciting opportunity for three Political Interns to join the Embassy’s Political Section. The purpose of the Political Internship is to provide analytical, policy and administrative support to achieve UK objectives in Mexico. The jobholder will support the whole Political Section, which covers topics including foreign policy, domestic politcs, anti-corruption, rule of law, human rights, gender and equalities, and other UK priority issues. The role will involve working with a wide range of stakeholders, including civil society organisations, academics, and Mexican Government officials to organise meetings, generate ideas for collaboration, draft analysis and reports as well as support with the running of projects. The succesful candidate will also support the organisation of events and visits. It is an exciting time to be working at the UK Embassy in Mexico in support of our objectives. |
Roles and Responsibilities: The British Embassy in Mexico City is looking for three Political Interns to support the work of the Foreign Policy, Domestic Politics, and Rule of Law teams. These are varied and challenging positions, which cover a wide range of political and project related tasks as well as administrative duties. While primarily working with the assigned team, the job will involve engaging with most sections of the Embassy and a range of external contacts in Mexico and the UK. The successful candidate should be able to work well in a fast-paced environment and be flexible to support competing priorities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Liaison with external stakeholders including civil society organisations and Mexican Government departments (at both federal and local level) to organise meetings and events. 2. Support project and programme design and implementation for UK Embassy priorities. 3. Analysis and drafting reports on UK priorities in Mexico, including elections, foreign policy, anti-corruption, and security. 4. Support on strategies related to UK priorities (e.g., elections, multilateral forums) 5. Support the wider Political, Press and Public Affairs Section with planning and organizing official events hosted by the Embassy. 6. Performing administrative duties: taking meeting notes, budget support, drafting correspondence, and providing overall administrative support for the assigned team’s daily tasks and events. All employees of the Embassy network are expected to contribute to the corporate activity of the organization. |
