The British Consulate-General in Istanbul is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic, consular and defence interests overseas and is now looking for a Regional Finance Manager

The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of financial management and planning duties on behalf of several posts in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) region. This will include the monitoring of budgets and forecasts, acting as the first line of financial support and compliance, as well as reporting issues back to the EECA Head of Finance and Finance Business Partners in the UK.

Individuals will also be expected to analyse the balance sheet accounts for posts in the region and ensure information is accurately and effectively reported. 

Responsibilities will include:

BUDGET MANAGEMENT

  • Actively monitoring and processing budgeting, forecasting and reporting for a range of DBT offices in the region.
  • Liaising with individual posts, Regional Heads of Finance and Finance Business Partners in the UK and consolidating information across the region to monitor trends and variances.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Ensuring financial forecasts are robust and issues are resolved appropriately and within agreed timescales.
  • Analysing balance sheet accounts and ensuring information is accurately and effectively reported.
  • Ensuring compliance with HQ’s accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Delivering financial training to posts when required.
  • Completing monthly variance analysis.
  • Deputising for the EECA Finance Head on finance matters and supporting them on wider leadership and corporate activities.
  • As needed, liaising with HQ Management Accounts and Corporate Services Finance teams at posts to open/close purchase orders and track payments.
  • Using internal budgeting and forecasting tools to prepare and promote budget and forecast information.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators.
  • Assisting with business planning preparation.

  • Experience with financial reporting, analysing data, and presenting financial information;
  • A degree in a relevant area or a professional qualification in a relevant field;
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in finance and/or accounting in an international multi-currency environment;
  • Excellent oral and written English skills (C level);
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills;
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors;
  • Experience with financial systems (ERP’s) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with or an understanding of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS);
  • Self-starting, proactive and persistent in leading and delivering.

This is a full-time, permanent contract, for 5 working days (36.25 hours net), per week. 

The monthly salary for this position is $2,900.00 USD gross, paid in 12 instalments, EO level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law. 

All applicants should have the right to live and work in Turkiye. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits. 

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months. 

Staff recruited locally by the British Consulate General in Istanbul are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Turkish employment law.
