The British Embassy in Caracas is recruiting a bilingual (Spanish and English) Security and Transport Manager to oversee the security operations of the Embassy and Official Residence and to manage its transport and vehicles. This is a critical and multidimensional role requiring a blend of security expertise, excellent organisational skills, discretion and a strong ability to work with diverse stakeholders. We are looking for a candidate of outstanding calibre to lead the Embassy’s security, using industry best practice and exceptional professionalism to protect our staff and buildings. This will involve delivering the Embassy’s security strategy, mitigating risks and addressing any emerging threats. The successful candidate will work closely with the Regional Security Adviser (RSA) to oversee and implement security policy, procedures and measures. They will be responsible for overseeing the Embassy and Residence guards and maintaining an effective and diverse network of security contacts. The jobholder will be expected to provide excellent security advice to senior management in the Embassy and London and to respond to any security requirements or queries, which may occasionally occur outside of normal working hours. The successful candidate will also oversee all aspects of the Embassy’s travel and transport requirements. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and organisational skills, which they will use to manage the Embassy’s team of drivers and maintain our fleet of vehicles to the highest standards. The role also requires good administrative skills to ensure compliance with processes, excellent value-for-money and oversight of diplomatic procedures such as delivery of diplomatic bags. |

Candidates must be eligible to work and live in Venezuela.
This is a full-time position with working hours from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 1:15 PM.

The FCDO provides extensive learning and development opportunities through the Caracas L&D Group. The successful candidate will be required to carry out basic training on arrival in order to access the relevant FCDO systems. |
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.
