The British Embassy in Albania is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas, and is now looking for 2 Security Guards, to provide security for British Embassy Tirana personnel, visitors and facilities by conducting access control and visitor screening duties as a member of the security team. Detects, deters, responds, and reports potential criminal and terrorists’ acts directed against British Embassy Tirana personnel and facilities.
This role will include shift and weekend work.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Serves as Security Guard for all British Embassy facilities and leased residences by providing operational and administrative supervision of each local guard shift ensuring that British government property and personnel are safeguarded;
- Serves as Deputy Head Guard (DHG) in the absence of DHG, supporting Head Guard, Post Security Manager (PSM) and Post Security Officer (PSO) in implementing security procedures;
- Assists Deputy Head Guard in making arrangements as needed based upon environmental conditions;
- Understand the security control panel and operate emergency alarms and the public address system;
- Use security and radio communication equipment, fire extinguisher and other emergency equipment;
- Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods in a wide variety of weather conditions, ability to work flexible shift schedules, to include nights, days, weekends, and/or holidays, and ability to react quickly and effectively to a variety of security incidents;
- Must be able to independently take action as necessary depending on the nature of incidents outlined in guard orders;
- Must be able to communicate with persons from all socioeconomic classes. Must be familiar with dispute mediation tactics to ease potentially dangerous security situations;
- Must be proficient in presentation techniques and instructional strategies;
- Have knowledge of the emergency response procedures and notification process, familiarity with security equipment and processes, awareness of cultural norms and customs.
- Fluency in Albanian at C level according to CEFR Framework (spoken and written) * and working level in English;
- Completion of secondary education, high school diploma or the local equivalent;
- Experience in the military; police force, or as a security guard would be an advantage;
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

This is for a full-time employment, on a fixed term basis for 12 months with possibility of extension by mutual agreement.
The gross salary per month is ALL 81,200.
This is a full-time position of 5 days (36 hours net per week). This role will include shift and weekend work on a 24/7 hours shift.
The Embassy supports the work-life balance of its employees and is open to flexible working.
No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
The successful candidate must have the right to live and work in Albania.
The successful candidate will be required to pass a language skills test and undergo security clearance before commencing the role.
The successful candidate will be subject to a professional background check and security clearance – local and international ‘Vetting’ process will be performed to the successful candidate.
