The British Embassy in Azerbaijan is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Security Guard.
Providing a guarding service that ensures the safety and security of staff members and visitors, as well as protecting the Embassy building, associated properties and external events through the implementation of established security procedures. This includes responding to incidents and emergency scenarios through clear communications and interaction with staff members. Good customer service is required for daily and varied interactions with staff and visitors to the Embassy.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Work effectively within a team and ability to follow instructions quickly and accurately.
- To enforce layered security defences including access control measures to ensure only staff and authorised visitors are granted entry.
- Conduct searches of individuals, vehicles and packages and perimeter searches of properties and event locations.
- Protect the organisation’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire and other safety issues.
- Monitor security systems, including CCTV and radio communications 24/7 as per Standard Operating Procedures.
- Provide emergency response to an incident within the Embassy or at a residential property and complete timely incident reporting.
- Provide safety advice and emergency assistance to UKB staff and dependants 24/7.
- Conduct and maintain reports on the Embassy’s regular alarm testing.
- Provide event security, ensuring that all security instructions are conducted in accordance with SOPs.
- Provide good customer services; guide visitors of all levels through the Embassy’s access procedures and politely deal with enquiries and redirect callers as necessary.
- Provide staff with timely notice of incidents in the city that could disrupt safe travel.
- Liaise with the Diplomatic Police and other stakeholders including staff and security contacts.

- Intermediate English (written and spoken, minimum level B1 under the CEFRL or equivalent*) and Proficient Azerbaijani language skills (written and spoken, minimum level C1 under the CEFRL or equivalent*) is required;
- Experience of working within the security industry; at least one year preferably (including private sector, military or police).
- Basic experience with access control, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems and physical security checks (searches).
- Basic IT user skills (Microsoft office applications).

- Proficient Russian language skills (written and spoken, minimum level C1 under the CEFRL or equivalent*)
- Event security experience.
- Experience working with the international community.
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety processes.

This is a full-time and permanent contract, 2 Days Shift (12 hours) + 2 Night Shift (12 hours) ,4 Days Off, 40 hours net per week.
The salary is USD958,35 paid in AZN per month and shall be paid in AZN monthly.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Azerbaijan is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service of the FCDO according to local labour legislation.
All applicants should have the right to live and work in Azerbaijan. The British Embassy does not sponsor, nor does it provide assistance for obtaining work & resident permits.
