Who are we?
The British Embassy in Podgorica, Montenegro is part of a world-wide network which represents British political, economic and consular interests overseas. The Embassy is now looking to recruit a Security Guard/Back up Driver.
The main purpose of the role is to support and contribute to the Embassy’s operation by ensuring:
- Support to the Security Manager on physical safety and security of the Embassy compound, HMA and DHM Residences and its employees;
- Operation of all access and security control;
- Receptionist, first point contact, telephone desk
- Fire fighting officer and First Aider
- Back up driver, procurement and logistical support
- Support to Consular team with their customers
Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Security Guard (60%) (proactive approach in monitoring and overseeing the control of access for staff and visitors both at the Embassy and Residence through scanning procedures and search of individuals where necessary; locking and unlocking procedures; physical safety and security of the Embassy and Residence compound, staff and guests; ability to identify irregular situations and to follow action protocols; answering alarms and other disturbances; takes part in fire fighting and first aid situations with exact duties delegated; communication with Residence Security Team, to provide smooth flow of duties and activities; supervising contractors as and when required thus enabling safe environment for the employees and preventing from possible sabotage; other duties as agreed with Security Manager) 2. Back up driver for HMA and DHM (30%) (drive HMA and DHM when needed and optionally provide support for other staff and guests) 3. Procurement and administration (10%) (courier service – post and other shipments collection and delivery, minor procurement, purchase of office materials etc.) |

Our ideal candidate shows:
- Excellent spoken and written use of English and Montenegrin (min C1 level of CEFR*)
- Clear and concise communication skills having in mind day-to-day contacts with staff, visitors, contractors etc
- Proficiency in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and Internet
- Adaptability, flexibility, pro-activity, excellent team-working skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Driving licence (category B)
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Previous driving experience

This is a full-time permanent contract for 40 working hours per week. Working pattern: Monday – Thursday: 1st shift 08:00-16:30, 2nd shift 09:30-18:00 (weekly shift change). Fridays: 08:00-14:00.
The successful appointment is subject to confirmation of a background check, security clearance and medical clearance.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Podgorica are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Montenegro employment law.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Montenegro and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
