Main purpose of job:
To manage all programme and administrative aspects of the Chevening Scholarship and fellowship programme delivered by the British High Commission in New Delhi.
Chevening is the UK Government’s flagship award scheme. India runs the largest Chevening programme in the world designed to attract the brightest and the best for its high-profile programmes (one year Masters’ and short thematic programmes for mid-career professionals), focused on professionals in the government, public & private sector, media and civil society.

The successful candidate will play a critical role, working with colleagues in the High Commission and the Deputy High Commissions across India, as well as external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are hence essential.
The candidate will be responsible for the administration, budget and logistics, helping deliver the largest programme in the world. The successful candidate will need to be methodical with good organisational skills, be creative and show initiative. Ability to multitask and work under pressure will be welcome.
Strong IT skills are vital to perform this role effectively.
An enthusiastic team-player, a self-starter who can think on their feet, deliver efficiently and follow strict timelines.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
The job holder’s main duties will involve:
Programme Administration (50%)
- Managing the Chevening application process, supporting the process of shortlisting, working on dashboard & huddle and arranging interviews and panel members.
- Act as main point of contact for Chevening candidates, scholars and fellows and deal with all queries.
- Liaising with Chevening Secretariat in London to coordinate the application and selection process (not siting in interview panels).
- Making purchase orders and maintaining budgets.
- Updating and maintaining the database of Chevening alumni.
Programme Outreach and Marketing (20%)
- Generating written and visual content for social media and press.
- Promoting Chevening by helping arranging talks in institutions and events
- Keeping records of the Chevening marketing budget, promotional material, contacting suppliers for quotations according to the Chevening branding guidelines.
- Internal communications for promoting Chevening within the High Commission and the Deputy High Commissions.
Alumni Engagement (20%)
- Event management – helping organise pre-departure events, welcome back events, thematic events and working closely with the larger network in India.
- Collaborating with teams within the High Commission for delivery of events.
- Supporting in preparing case studies of alumni and keeping the case study bank up-to-date.
- Support in preparing bids.
Finance/Budgets (10%)
- Ensuring all financial issues are dealt effectively.
- Involved in maintaining budget for engagements, marketing and CAPF
- Working closely with finance team.
The job holder may also be expected to take on other tasks to support the Team, as and when required.

For British High Commission candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC Candidates, salary will be all-inclusive of INR 75,359 per month plus 12% Provident Fund and 6% Special Allowances.
Additionally, the BHC offers a great benefits package that includes annual domiciliary medical cover, plus a Group Hospitalisation Scheme with INR 500,000 floater cover for your immediate family which includes self, spouse/partner and children up to an age of 23years and irrespective of age, only if with, physical or mental disability.
No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.
Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g., some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders will need have, or be able to obtain, a valid special work permit issued from Government of India (GOI) to work in the British High Commission (BHC). BHC will not be able to sponsor work visas or obtain/ assist with the special work permit from GOI.
