Main purpose of job:
This role is based in the British High Commission in Singapore, who encourage Singapore to look to the UK as a global partner of choice in trade, investment, science and research, and also help Singapore on low-carbon economic development.
This role supports the UK Hydrographic Office, who are a world-leading centre for hydrography, specialising in marine geospatial data to support safe, secure and thriving oceans. For over 225 years this has been achieved via a portfolio of navigation products, service and more recently data, predominantly to the global shipping industry.

As the world becomes digital, maritime is no exception. There is a need to innovate our core hydrographic office offering to ensure the requirements of new and existing mariners are met with both paper products and digital products and services against a backdrop of rapidly changing legislation and industry innovation. Achieving this will ensure the UK Hydrographic Office’s (UKHO) ADMIRALTY brand will continue to be the leading navigation brand and a hallmark of quality globally.
The Customer Division represents the external facing activities of the organisation, providing engagement with and delivery to our markets and Customers. Our work is varied and includes determining and producing product and services, championing our brand and developing external marketing communication, building key strategic relationships and supporting our partners, delivering an industry best customer service, managing ours (and others) Intellectual Property Rights, and identifying opportunities to provide solutions using our data, either for existing customers and/or new markets.
The Account Executive will be part of the Account Management Team and will be the primary point of contact for channel partner accounts and key ship owners and operators (end customers) serviced through the channel partner network. The Jobholder will support the Account Managers in managing key strategic channel partners and generating reports to provide market insights.
The job holder may be required to travel occasionally in the region to support the diverse range of distributors and customers, participate in conferences, trade fairs and exhibitions. We prefer the candidate to have good communication skills and be able to think on their feet and respond to the changing market conditions.
The job holder will report to the Senior Account Manager and be required to work closely with various teams in the UK and Singapore through effective engagement, participation in local initiatives and relationship management.
Roles and responsibilities
1. Account Management
- Providing support to Account Managers in managing strategic channel partners
- Cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships with existing channel partners.
- Work with stakeholders (both UK and SG) to create and deliver partner specific business plans
- Support channel partners to deliver agreed specific business plans, including infrastructure development, conducting co-marketing activities such as partner’s product launch, seminars, co-sales activities.
- Providing market intelligence to the UKHO through the full utilisation of the CRM system
2. Budget & Reporting
- Analysing sales figures
- Be responsible for and measured against the delivery of sales target for revenue, growth and product mix against both budget and forecast
- Assist the Account Management team by proposing and creation of new market insights reports.
- Keeping up to date with the new products and services offered by UKHO and with the developments amongst OEMs and the impact of those developments on UKHO products and services.
3. Strategy & Plans
- Work with Line Manager to deliver sales strategy and business plan
- Collect customer feedback, define market research requirements and proposing follow through from resulting output
- Working with the team to actively promote the ADMIRALTY brand in the region
4. Channel Management
- Keeping up to date with products and competitors
- Effective co-ordination of the sales activities and events including synchronisation of their interdependencies with marketing and channel to ensure overall integrity and coherence with the business plan
Essential upon arrival:
- Proven Customer relationship management within a sales or channel structure
- Proven sales success in an international regulated environment
- Strong personal organisation and communications skills, initiative and resourcefulness
- Professional approach and demeanour, high work standards and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to analyse information and make considered, timely decisions
- Proficient in MS Office suite
Desirable but not required:
- Diploma/Degree in Maritime Studies or Business Studies
- CRM / SAP experience
- Experience and understanding of the merchant marine sector
- Knowledge of ADMIRALTY products and services
- Proficiency in Power BI is a plus

Benefits:
We offer a competitive package, which includes basic salary of SGD 5,211 per month and a generous annual wage supplement (as part of total guaranteed remuneration) of an additional 2 months’ salary paid out in December each year, Central Provident Fund (CPF) payment in lieu for non-Permanent Resident foreign nationals, 23-days annual leave entitlement and a health insurance plan. The basic salary is non-negotiable.
We have a generous leave offer including: 23 days annual leave, increasing to 25 after 5 years’ service, with the option to carry over up to 12 days into the subsequent leave year; 14 public holidays; generous maternity and paternity leave; and childcare leave. We encourage volunteerism and offer up to 3 days paid volunteer leave.

Working Patterns:
Normal working hours are 37.5 per week: 8.30am to 5.00pm from Monday to Friday.
British High Commission Singapore supports and promotes flexible working as a crucial part of our inclusive offering. Our current posture allows for staff to work from home for up to 40% of their working week, subject to line manager agreement.
Other information:
In addition to the duties which this job normally entails, you may from time to time be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the High Commission, including playing a part in the corporate life of the mission and supporting any crisis response.
