The British Embassy Riyadh has a vacancy for an Administrative Officer under the Economic Diplomacy Team for a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026. There is a possibility of extension of the contract depending on performance and operational requirements.
The jobholder will support the British Embassy’s Economic Diplomacy Team to advance the UK-KSA economic partnership under Vision 2030. The jobholder will have opportunities to gain experience on some of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s (FCDO) most high-profile priorities and will provide a secretariat function, including supporting high level visits, cross-team support, and policy/ governmental engagement.
The jobholder will provide administrative support to the Economic Diplomacy Team. They will help support operational logistics, lead administrative tasks, contribute to visit programmes for senior UK officials, and assist in liaising with Saudi Arabia’s Ministries. They will also provide additional administrative support to the Head of the team.
The Embassy in Riyadh is a large diverse team, delivering key priorities against a wide range of UK Government objectives. The environment is challenging, and the issues can be complex and fast moving. The jobholder will need to be able to make effective decisions, work well in a team, have great organisational skills, and the resilience to deliver in a dynamic environment to be successful in the role. The jobholder will also work closely with the Economic Liaison Officer (grade EO) in order to coordinate their support of the team.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role.
Salary details:
*Allowances are not payable to staff who receive official provision for such expenditure in some other form. Spouses/ Dependants of UKBS Officers working at the Embassy/ Consulate General are not eligible to Housing or Travel Allowance.
No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
This position is full-time, based on 35 hours per week. Normal working hours for the Embassy are from 08:00 to 15:00 from Sunday to Thursday, with core working hours from 10:00-15:00. Core working hours is the period of the day that employees are required to be at work. The working day outside of the core hours is a flexible period, which allows employees to choose when they work, subject to operational needs.
The jobholder will be required to be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours (evening/ weekend), especially during visits and official and networking events. Flexible working arrangements may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy/ Consulate General policies.
The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.
The successful candidate will be required to transfer their iqama under the Embassy’s/ Consulate General’s sponsorship.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around 2-3 months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and in the UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidate’s profile and UK footprint. You may experience some delay in the progress of this recruitment campaign, and we are working hard to minimise any disruption.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of six (6) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
