The British Embassy in Tunis has a vacancy for an Estates and Facilities Manager, job grade Executive Officer (EO).
We are seeking a dynamic Estates & Facilities Manager to lead the strategic and operational management of our Embassy estate, accommodation portfolio, and facilities services. This pivotal role combines project leadership, compliance oversight, health and safety stewardship, and team management to ensure our built environment is safe, sustainable, efficient, and fully aligned with Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) standards.
Main Purpose of the Job:
The jobholder will oversee all aspects of estate management, including the Embassy, the Ambassador’s Residence, and all rented properties. The role leads on property compliance, preventive and reactive maintenance, health and safety, and major project delivery, while ensuring value for money, high-quality service, and a safe environment for staff and residents.

Working hours and remuneration:
The British Embassy in Tunis offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. Initial salary will be TND 5,212 per month while on probation. Salary after probation is TND 6,429. However, staff who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary (i.e., UKBS spouse/ partner) may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
This position is for a full-time employment on a permanent contract.
The successful candidate will be subject to a six-month probationary period that can be further extended up to six months. The appointment is also subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.
Conditioned working hours are 40 hours gross per week (inclusive of breaks). Standard working hours are from 08:00-16:30 from Mondays to Thursdays and from 08:00-13:00 on Fridays.
Unless authorised otherwise, we expect staff to be physically present in the Embassy five days per week. A flexible working pattern may be possible depending on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies. The jobholder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as there may be some work out of hours (evening/ weekend).
The jobholder will have opportunities to benefit from a range of Learning and Development (L&D) initiatives. There is great opportunity for learning and development ‘on the job’. We also have an active L&D Committee, which promotes different ways of learning and to which applications can be made for specific, funded learning activity. The jobholder will also be required to undertake a number of mandatory training courses as part of their role.
The International Academy (IA) is the home of L&D for the FCDO. It covers a wide range of essential as well as job-specific subjects; and is designed to ensure that all staff can access high quality learning products. Our staff are given responsibility and autonomy (and support), allowing them to develop skills and confidence through delivery.

The start date mentioned in the advert is a tentative start date and the successful candidate will be required to undergo security-vetting procedures. Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable clearances and reference checks.
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two-three months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidates’ profile and UK footprint.
