Main purpose of job: Trade and investment are at the very heart of British government policy. The UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) helps British businesses to export, supports inward and outward investment, and champions free trade. Peru is an important business partner for the UK, and there is great potential to grow our trade and investment relationship. DBT is looking for an Intern to work as part of the DBT Team at the British Embassy in Lima. The successful applicant will play an integral part in delivering our services to UK companies. Duties will include supporting the business operations of the team, collating statistics and information, market research, writing reports, meeting business contacts, as well as organising high profile events and developing visit programmes. Great team working skills, flexibility, resilience and professionalism are essential for this role. The successful applicant will gain a broad range of business and trade experience and development opportunities which they can use to progress their career. This is a great opportunity to engage closely with the public and private sectors in Peru, the UK and in other Latin American markets in support of the trade team’s objectives.

Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 6-12 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.

The British Embassy in Lima operates on a hybrid model, requiring its employees to attend the office in-person at least 60% of their time.
The FCDO operates an agile workforce. To facilitate this, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.
