Main purpose of job:
This is an exciting opportunity in the UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) in Asia Pacific (APAC). The jobholder serves as Regional Hub Advisor for DBT APAC’s Export Support Service, and is part of the DBT APAC Regional Team, led by the Chief Operating Officer in Singapore.
The Export Support Service is the UK’s global export support programme, delivering advice and market entry support to thousands of SMEs each year. The APAC ESS operates a hub-and-spoke model, with a central hub coordinating enquiries from Ho Chi Minh City, and onward referrals across 14 markets, supported by a regional network of market advisers.
This role supports delivery of the Export Support Service (ESS) across Asia Pacific, overseeing key elements of the service operational delivery, supporting management of priority projects, and engaging with relevant stakeholders.
Working closely with the Deputy Head of ESSIM, and the Exports Director – both also based in HCMC – the Regional Hub Advisor plays a central role in ensuring the efficient running of the Hub and the wider regional network, with particular responsibility for leading communications and promotional activity, overseeing enquiry triage and reporting processes, and driving continuous improvement across systems, budget management, and service delivery.

, strengthen engagement with stakeholders and partners, and help ensure that ESS delivers a high-quality, consistent, and customer-focused service to UK businesses across the region.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
Regional Advisor for the ESS APAC Hub (30%)
- Report into and support the Deputy Head collectively ensuring the management of an efficient and effective Export Support Service covering 14 APAC markets
- Work closely with the Deputy Head of ESS to design and deliver workstreams and projects that help to improve and strengthen the regional service, through consultation with ESS colleagues
- Proactively develop strong working relationships with the regional network of ESS Market Advisors, providing operational guidance, offering support to service delivery and gaining insights to support service improvement
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture across the Hub and wider ESS network
- Provide flexible, proactive support across emerging priorities and regional initiatives
- Take the lead on supporting relevant enquiries, delivering consultation calls with UK businesses to assess suitability and understand ambitions
Service Development, Operations & Technical Improvement (30%)
- Lead on day-to-day triage and enquiry management, building robust and resilient systems and KPIs to maximise efficiency across the region
- Support monitoring of service performance, including KPIs, reporting, and operational insights
- Work with the Deputy Head of ESS to deliver continuous improvement in service processes, systems and tools (including CRM and digital platforms)
- Ensure accurate data management, reporting, and tracking across the Hub
Communications, Campaigns & Stakeholder Engagement (25%)
- Proactively identify opportunities for high-impact communications and promotional activity across APAC, increasing visibility and demand for ESS
- Develop content and campaigns (e.g. events, social media, flagship initiatives such as DBT’s annual International Trade Week)
- Support regional teams with engagement with the Overseas Referral Network and service providers
- Support regional collaboration and knowledge sharing through effective communications
Budget, Reporting & Resource Coordination (15%)
- Support budget management, leading on overall ESS forecasting across APAC, tracking team expenditure and ensuring effective use of resources
- Lead on operational reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely data for decision-making
- Support coordination of resources and workflows across the Hub to maintain efficient delivery

Working patterns:
Full time – 39.5 hours per week with one hour lunch. Mon-Thursday 08:30–16:45, Friday 08:30–15:00. The Consulate General has a smarter working policy and is committed to offering flexible working patterns balanced with the operational requirements of the role. In crisis/emergency situations you may need to work as required to support the Consulate’s response, sometimes on a shift pattern working which may result in unsociable hours and/or weekend working.
