Position description

The Williams College Department of Political Science invites applications for a one-year appointment in the 2025 – 2026 academic year, as Visiting Assistant Professor in Political Science. We seek individuals who can teach courses in comparative politics, especially those with an East Asia, Africa, or other regional focus. The ability to teach introduction to comparative politics is required. The ability to teach courses in international relations is a plus. The teaching load is four courses, split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Candidates should have the Ph.D. completed by June 2025. Application items should include: a cover letter detailing teaching experience and competencies as well as current scholarly interests; two syllabi of classes taught or planned to be taught; a curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation; teaching evaluations accompanied by comparative or statistical context (if available); and a writing sample of only one article or chapter. We ask you to write in your cover letter about your ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
