The Department of Government serves the College by offering courses and scholarly experiences that contribute to the liberal education of undergraduates. Department faculty offercourses, seminars, directed research and directed readings that promote understanding ofpolitical phenomena ranging from the behavior of individual citizens to relations among nations.The Department develops students’ abilities to analyze the normative and empirical dimensionsof political issues. The Government Department offers a bachelor’s degree major.
Position Summary
The Department of Government at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track visiting position in international relations/comparative politics. The position will begin August 10, 2024. We seek an individual who can teach introductory undergraduate courses in Comparative Politics and International Political Economy, as well as upper-level classes in their area of specialization. An ability to teach courses on Middle East politics is valuable but not required. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a [3-3] teaching load.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree is required. Demonstrated ability to teach introductory undergraduate courses in Comparative Politics and International Political Economy.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. or ABD is preferred at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2024). Previous teaching experience strongly preferred. Ability to teach courses on Middle East politics is valuable but not required.
