WWT is the charity for wetlands and wildlife. We run 9 wetland nature sites across the UK
including household names such as Slimbridge, Martin Mere, and the London Wetland Centre, which
help us to raise awareness of wetlands and their wildlife as well as generate an income for us.
About the role
One of our three big strategic ambitions is to inspire more people to value, act for, and
benefit from wetlands, and this role is significant in helping us achieve that. By raising
awareness of what we can offer visitors at our wetland sites, you’ll grow our audience, and
take hundreds of thousands of people on their first step towards a deeper love of nature and
wildlife
You’ll lead on national visitor PR. And, because our wetlands are located throughout the UK,
you’ll also guide and support colleagues based at those sites to strengthen their PR and
content offering for their local catchments.
As a charity and visitor attraction, we seek to engage several audiences, in order to meet the
goals of various internal teams. The ability to see where the visit proposition fits best in
the supporter journey and understand our overall strategic approach will be critical to your
success in this role.
The role sits within WWT’s Fundraising, Marketing and Communications directorate, reporting to
the Visitor Marketing Manager in the central team. You’ll have the support of a small team
dedicated to visitor marketing – a Digital Marketing Manager, a Marketing Campaign Manager, and
a Marketing Executive – as well as working closely with colleagues from across the directorate.
About you
We are looking for someone with the experience to develop a PR and Content strategy that will
build awareness and strengthen our proposition for visitors. We need someone with the
confidence to build strong, supportive relationships with colleagues across our UK locations,
as well as with contacts in the media.
You will bring:
You will join a warm and encouraging team, and a charity that not only contributes to more
sustainable future but the enjoyment of many who appreciate wildlife.
About us
We are WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife.
Our natural world is in trouble. But, at WWT, we know there’s a wondrous solution. You’ll find
it wherever water meets land.
Wetlands are super-powered ecosystems. They teem with wildlife, buffer us from floods, purify
our water, lift our mood and sink carbon. But we are losing them at a staggering rate.
That’s why we’re on a mission to restore wetlands and unlock their power, and empower everyone
to do the same. WWT is a charity that is actively restoring wetlands in the UK and globally.
But we can’t do it alone. Every action we take together, large or small, will help wetlands
burst with life once more. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish.
What we offer
In return for your hard work and dedication, you will enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
Closing date: 15th March 2024
First interview date: Week ending 22nd March 2024
Second interview date: To be confirmed
WWT is an equal opportunities employer and all applications will be considered solely on
merit.
