We are looking for an experienced, adaptable and highly motivated person to work in our new Visualisation and Simulation Lab at the Royal College of Art. Working within the technical support team based in this new Research & Knowledge Exchange focused space, the role will provide specialist technical support for large scale multimedia projection, virtual environments and audio delivery.
The day job as Visualisation Lab manager:
- Working closely with academic staff and partners to support project development.
- Designing workflows, user guides and safety protocols for a new laboratory.
- Ordering consumables and planning maintenance of equipment.
- Training research staff on new equipment and processes.
- Setting up and running tests and experiments on behalf of academic staff.
- Peer-to-peer learning with other technical specialists and academic staff.
- Regular problem solving and playing an active part in the lab’s development.
What you will need to have:
- Significant knowledge and experience of managing multi-user spaces, including equipment management, software updates, and user configuration.
- Experience of delivering virtual environment projects and at least one CAD or games development platform (such as Blender, Unreal, Unity, etc.)
- Experience in processes and techniques related to large scale visualisation.
- Experience of managing audio systems as part of a visualisation or simulation experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organisational, time management and planning skills with the ability to prioritise as appropriate.

This is a full time and fixed term role (2 years) working at our State-of-the-Art facility at Battersea.
