About the project: Mercy Hands will target vulnerable women (refugees, returnees, IDPs) in Baghdad (Latifiya, Abu Ghraib,  Mahmoudia Al Rubaie village, Hoor Rajab) through agricultural training on innovative farming techniques (i.e. hydroponic systems) and asset distribution, to improve their economic conditions, through entrepreneurial training and tutorship for female beneficiaries, through grassroots mobilisation to advance dialogue on women’s engagement in climate action. With the project, Mercy Hands will support vulnerable women in building adaptive capacities to environmental shocks and help them meet their needs in the shorter and longer term.

 

About the role: The Vocational Trainer will assist in the implementation of the project “Strengthening resilience of vulnerable refugee and IDP women impacted by crises, displacement, and disasters due to climate change and exacerbated food insecurity in Baghdad”, in partnership with UN Women.

The Vocational Trainer will be working in implementation of Activity 1.1.5 “Organise three vocational training courses on henna, ecotourism, and urban horticulture in each centre for a total of 630 female BNFs. Each course has 4 half-day sessions. The course runs on two shifts (morning and afternoon) and will have 28 or 29 female BNFs per session, for a total of 210 female BNFs for each topic, divided over the 4 centres. Each course will last for 4 days, and one subject per month will be delivered. Vocational training will last for 3 months.”

He/She will report directly to the Project Manager.  

The Vocational Trainer will be required to conduct a total of 32 training sessions (4 days-course multiplied by 4 courses multiplied by 2 daily shifts). Each 4 days will be allocated to a specific centre, in order to cover all 4 centres in one month.

 

Responsibilities: The Vocational Trainer duties include:

  • Lead 4 vocational training courses for a total of 210 participants. Each course lasts for 4 days. Each course has 26 participants. Each course has double shift – morning participants and afternoon participants.
  • The Trainer works for a total of 16 days (Sunday to Thursday – Morning shift: 10 AM-12.30; Afternoon shift: 1PM-3:30PM) conducting the Vocational course.
  • Jointly with the Logistician, coordinate rent and distribution of 210 vocational training toolkits.
  • The Trainer will work for 4 weeks, in 4 different centres.
  • The Trainer will design the pre-and-post surveys to handle before and after vocational training to capture knowledge aquisition of training content.
  • The Trainer will operate in the empowerment centre, where both the training courses and the individual tutorship sessions will be conducted.
  • The Trainer will support the MEAL Officer in identifying 12 most achieving trainees (3 in each course).

Candidate requirements:

– Experience in delivering vocational training;

– Experience working with NGOs;

– Proactivity and willingness to support vocational trainees;

– Good knowledge of IT communication tools;

– Immediate availability.
