Position Summary

United Way of Central Indiana recognizes that the key to success
is a strong and cohesive team that works through shared values to
achieve our mission. The Volunteer Engagement Intern is a member of
the Volunteer Engagement team and will encourage participant
involvement in and assist with engagement events and projects with
companies and donors.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the
general nature and level of work being performed.  They are
not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all
responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so
classified. 

  • Coordinate activities associated with the creation,
    coordination, implementation and follow-up for volunteer
    engagement, Leadership United programing, immersive learning, and
    impact ambassador activities. Including ordering and transportation
    of materials, communication with key internal and external
    stakeholders and execution of onsite logistics.
  • Assist with entering participant data for engagement metric
    tracking for volunteer, leadership and immersive learning
    activities.
  • Assist with set-up, tear down and running of select United Way
    community-wide events.
  • Work with volunteer engagement staff to ensure events and
    activities positively and effectively convey brand message.
    Generate enthusiasm among staff and volunteers for events and
    promote a cooperative spirit within the organization among
    volunteers, community-based organizations, donors and
    participants.
  • Performs special assignments and other work, on an as-needed
    basis.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential job function satisfactorily. The

skills, and/or abilities required.  Reasonable accommodation

in standardized situations. Able to read and comprehend
instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Writes routine
reports and correspondence.  Presents information in
one-on-one and/or group situations to customers, clients, managers
and other employees of the organization and/or responds to
questions and complaints. Proficiency Computer
proficiency and a working knowledge of various computer and
database software including Microsoft’s Excel, Word and PowerPoint
is essential.

 Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Two or more years of Higher Education preferred. Work experience
may substitute for education requirements on a case-by-case basis.
Knowledge of the central Indiana community and the human service
sector is preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
