Main tasks
- Participating in all CodeWomen+ events and meetings in person, with as
main responsibilities the welcoming and registering of participants, and the
logistics at the event; - Supporting and facilitating the organisation of CodeWomen+ events to
empower women and non-binary individuals to breach into the tech
industry (e.g. workshops, masterclasses, coding sessions, digital literacy
courses); - Ensuring attendance of sufficient volunteers to events and managing them
(Google Calendar invites, Slack reminders, emails and follow-up); - Drafting engaging Eventbrite invitations;
- Keeping track of registrations through Eventbrite, keeping track of actual
attendance (participants and volunteers), and updating our database
(Airtable) with the relevant information. - Taking care of food & drinks for events where hosts do not provide this;
- Liaising with hosting partners (coding schools, companies) where needed;
- Ensuring a photographer is present; managing the photo database;
- Managing the CodeWomen+ WhatsApp group;
- Collecting information from participants and updating the CodeWomen+
database (Airtable); - Supporting the organisation’s communications team in creating content
about the project for Instagram, Linkedin and the web page - Moderating the online communication channels through engaging
interactions with the community; - Take part in the ESC activities (organisation of team building activities,
awareness raising in schools, etc.); - Support the rest of the team and participate actively in the organisation’s
activities.
Requirements
- Enthusiastic and committed to achieving more diversity in the tech sector;
- People person, happy to help others, comfortable with reaching out to
strangers and networking; - Independent and creative, able to come up with ideas, find new ways of
doing things, and suggest improvements; - Good command of English (Spanish is a great advantage);
- (Volunteer) experience with event organisation;
- Able to manage deadlines, plan ahead, and anticipate problems;
- Comfortable with software tools and interested in learning to use new
systems, like Slack, Airtable and Notion; - Some writing skills (e.g. posting clear messages in Slack, and drafting
Eventbrite announcements); - An intersectional feminist perspective
Volunteer requirements established by ESC program (*)
- Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old.
- To have a legal residence permit in an EU country.
- Never having done an ESC volunteering before.
(*) Candidates that don’t meet these requirements won’t be able to be considered as potential candidates for this volunteer position.
What do we offer?
The project is funded by the European Commission through the European Solidarity Corps program. This means that volunteering provides:
- Travel costs coverage: Up to the limits established in the Erasmus+ Guide distance calculator from the volunteer’s region of residency to our center, and back.
- Free Accommodation: Provided next to our office, in the city center of Barcelona, Spain with other volunteers. The flat is fully equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, washing machine, etc.). Note: be ready to share your bedroom with other volunteers of the same gender.
- Monthly allowance: 310 euros per month.
- Insurance: Henner
- Free Language courses: Online but also in person, according to availability.
- Holidays: two days per month.
