The Psychology Department of the Faculty of Science at University of Tübingen and the independent Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) are seeking to appoint a
W3 Research Professor for Media-Supported Learning in Informal and Extracurricular Learning Venues
beginning 31 October 2024.
The professorship is part of the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM), one of 96 research institutions of the Leibniz Association (Leibniz Gemeinschaft). The IWM’s research focuses on knowledge acquisition, knowledge exchange, and cooperation with digital media. The W3 professor will be responsible for establishing and managing a lab that focuses on the use of media in informal learning in extracurricular learning venues such as museums. Research specializations could include experience-based learning in an authentic context, (participative) science communication as a learning venue, and/or the use of innovative technologies such as VR/AR or AI for experience-based learning. Successful candidates will have a background in cognitive or educational science and be willing to work on interdisciplinary projects as well as in close cooperation with the other IWM labs. It is also expected that the future professor will be willing to engage in the focal initiatives of educational research in Tübingen (e.g., graduate school and research network LEAD) as well as in science communication.

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.
The appointment will be made at the Faculty of Science of Tübingen University.
