We’re looking for an enthusiastic, driven, and self-motivated individual to join Butterfly
Conservation as Wales Marsh Fritillary Recovery Project Officer.

The ideal candidate will have experience of leading volunteers on species and habitat surveys
and liaising with partner organisations and private landowners. They will also be able to use
GIS mapping to create spatial data to inform future conservation efforts.

In this role you’d be working with partners and landowners, leading and coordinating volunteers
undertaking metapopulation surveys and habitat assessments of core Marsh Fritillary sites to
update mapping layers. This will create a landscape-scale focus, identifying opportunities to
create recommendations and costed plans for habitat connectivity projects.

The successful candidate will also help create a ‘Marsh Fritillary Recovery Partnership’ with
key stakeholders across Wales.

If this sounds like the role for you, and you aspire to work within landscape-scale
conservation, please go to the Butterfly Conservation website where you can find a full job
description.

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.

Closing date: Midday Monday 22 April 2024

Interviews will take place in the week commencing 29 April 2024

Why choose Butterfly Conservation?

We believe our work has never been more important.

Wildlife is in steep decline across the UK and over three-quarters of butterflies and
two-thirds of moths are declining. We recognise it needs a great team with a wide variety of
skills to tackle the problems facing butterflies, moths and the environment.

Our staff and volunteers are proud to be part of Butterfly Conservation and are dedicated to
making a difference to the environment we live in. We understand the importance of maintaining
and expanding our expert and valued team of people and offer a range of roles located all over
the UK, from the peat bogs in Scotland to the post room in Dorset.
