The 2022 to 2026 UNICEF country programme is aligned to Bangladesh’s Eighth Five-Year Plan for 2020 to 2025, with a focus on supporting Bangladesh to prioritize investments in children for the realization of child rights and sustainable development in Bangladesh.
As WASH Climate Analyst you support UNICEF as follows:
- Undertake an assessment of the sources of climate science data for Bangladesh and the applicability of these (or not) to the design of climate resilient interventions for UNICEF;
- Support the development of a climate risk analysis for Bangladesh with a focus on the impact on water and sanitation services;
- Undertake an analysis of the key projects financed with climate finance (Green Climate Fund, Adaptation Fund, Global Environment Facility and Climate Investment Fund) in Bangladesh;
- Review the Climate Rationale developed for the WASH sector and identify areas to strengthen it;
- Support the team to collect, analyse and document evidence of the impact of climate change on children and on the safely and sustainability of water and sanitation services, and key hygiene practices;
- Etc.
Part of the Talent programme “Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank“, this position is sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid. Skills required
For the programme:
- Swiss nationality;
- Master’s degree;
- Ideally 12 months of relevant professional experience (min. 3 months – max. 24 months);
- Max. 28 years old at the date of application;
- Excellent command of English and 2 official Swiss languages (one active = C1/C2, one passive = A2/B1);
- Proven interest in joining the international cooperation sector.
- Driving license for PHRD financed positions.
For this position:
- Master’s degree in a development-related field (including water resources, engineering, health etc). A specialization in a climate related area would be an asset;
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in:
– Climate Science
– Analysis of climate science data
– Research in climate. - Fluency in English is required.

Application deadline: 03 September 2024
First round of interviews carried out by cinfo: between 23 September and 02 October 2025
Final selection: will be made by the host organisation based on cinfo’s recommendation and a second interview with them. Selected candidates will be informed around November.
Onboarding and training: The onboarding process will start after the selection. Selected candidates will have to attend mandatory predeparture training in Biel in January or February.
Entry on duty: Departure is possible after the mandatory training. The final departure date will be discussed after the selection and depends on several factors.
