The set hiring rate for this position is $20/hourly.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Irrigation Assessor performs irrigation assessments and inspections for residential and large property customers; compiles data; creates written reports based on assessment findings; educates customers about outdoor water conservation best management practices; performs general garden and landscape maintenance functions; and may assist in general conservation projects.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college program and must demonstrate 1 year of customer service experience. No prior experience with irrigation required, interns will receive two weeks of comprehensive training prior to starting field work.
This is a seasonal, 40 hour per week position that reports to the Water Conservation Specialist lead. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High School diploma or GED with current enrollment in a college program or recent graduate (within 6 months) with coursework related to horticulture, conservation, environmental science, engineering, hydrology, GIS, or physical sciences. Students currently enrolled in a 2-year or technical program will also be considered.
Preferred Experience:
Interest in water conservation including horticulture, irrigation, and/or landscape maintenance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
