The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Water Quality has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer (WRCE) in the Ground Water Quality Branch, Cannabis Regulatory Unit. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 15th Floor, Sacramento, right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation.

Duties:

The Water Resource Control Engineer (WRCE) position is in the Groundwater Quality Branch, Cannabis Regulatory Unit. The WRCE is responsible for working with the nine RWQCB, to implement the Cannabis Cultivation Policy (Cannabis Policy) through the issuance of Cannabis General Order permits and coordinate future updates to the Cannabis Policy and Cannabis General Order. As a member of the Cannabis Regulatory Unit the WRCE will perform professional engineering work associated with evaluation and regulation of permitted discharge to land. The discharge types may include industrial wastewater treatment facilities, cannabis product manufacturing sites, road construction activities, earthwork sites, and construction and maintenance of cannabis cultivation sites. The position requires the exercise of engineering and professional judgment in the performance of duties.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.

Pay: $6,299.00 – $11,798.00 per month
