Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Water/Wastewater Intern to join AECOM’s Water/Wastewater team in Columbus, Ohio.

Our local office provides design opportunities throughout Ohio in water treatment, wastewater treatment, green infrastructure such as bioretention and permeable pavement, waterline rehabilitation and replacement, sanitary sewer condition assessment and rehabilitation, hydraulic modeling, and sanitary sewer/pump station/conveyance improvements.

In addition to local projects, AECOM provides opportunities to work on projects throughout the country as local office leaders share work amongst offices. Additionally, AECOM provides access to national experts to provide guidance and leadership on projects. AECOM’s mentorship program also provide entry-level engineers connectivity to staff worldwide.

This position is expected to begin in May or June 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

  • As an intern, the candidate will gain experience in programs such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and PCSWMM while working on a variety of water treatment, wastewater treatment, green infrastructure, and storm/sanitary sewer projects. Having prior experience with any of these programs is helpful, but the candidate will have local peer mentorship on these programs to gain experience.

  • Fieldwork may be required, but the majority of the time will be spent in the office.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.

  • Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of study in their program.

  • Due to nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in water or environmental type work.

Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available for this position

  • The offered rate of compensation (Ohio locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $18.58 – $25.55/hr.
