Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Water-Wastewater Project Engineer for immediate employment in the Glen Allen, VA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical support for a variety of utility design related projects, including pump/booster stations, water line and collection line design, rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration.

  • Coordinates multi-discipline design efforts

  • Supports project managers in the execution of all types of utility design projects

  • Supports client-related activities, including marketing and proposal development

  • Technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise.

  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related engineering field

  • 6 years of experience in utility engineering and design, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting required.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in civil engineering design and analysis, including water line and sewer line design, sewer pump station design, water booster station design, controls, and permitting

  • Valid Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Virginia, or able to obtain same in six months after hiring

  • Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills

  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor

  • Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative

  • Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines

  • Hydraulic modeling experience

  • Experience working for local and/or federal review agencies

  • Proficient with CAD and design software (Civil 3D, Bentley Design Suites, Revit, Water CAD, Sewer CAD, ARC GIS, etc)

Offered rate of compensation ([insert state] locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $120,000.
