The Waterfront and Resource Planning Lead sets strategic direction for Waterfront and Resource Planning goals and serves as a supervisor to professional natural resources planners and other coastal planning staff within the Section of the Center for Resilient Communities and Landscapes. The position oversees programs and staff that undertake work to (1) help Maryland address national and State coastal management priorities; (2) assist State and local partners in making effective decisions and planning for future development, conservation, and restoration of coastal resources while adapting to climate change; and (3) deliver critical technical and financial resources to local government and community partners. This position must work to secure a sustainable future for our coastal resources by balancing resiliency through restoration planning with resilient coastal uses, including waterfront and coastal economy initiatives.

This position is primarily responsible for developing strategic objectives for and overseeing implementation of budget, fund and program management for Maryland’s Federal Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) and other similar grants related to resilient conservation and restoration planning, recreation and public access, and natural resource-based industries. Additionally, this position will advance planning to implementation of resilience projects by coordinating across Grants Gateway Outcome 2 and 3 funding programs and leading annual solicitation reviews.

To successfully achieve these goals, this position must effectively establish and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse set of technical and planning partners at the local, regional, and state agency level while collaborating with community partners.
