Watershed Resilience Specialist, Natural Resource Specialist 3 (NRS3)
Full-time, Project, Represented position
Anticipated Project is August 2025-March 2026
Work Hours and Partial Telework flexibility may be available and considered 
Salary: $4,865.00 – $6,539.00 Monthly

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement Watershed Resilience Program projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in team coordination, communications, and strategic planning.
  • Coordinate with Tribal co-stewards and internal and external partners, including state agencies, local governments, conservation districts, and nonprofits.
  • Conduct scientific data collection and analysis, including in rough terrain in forested and aquatic habitats.
  • Collect and analyze spatial data via GIS.
  • Contract and grant scoping, writing, and management for local, state, and federal grants.

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in fish and wildlife biology, wildlife management, natural resources, environmental science, forestry, fisheries, marine science, or closely related field AND two years of experience in environmental science, natural resource management, forestry, fisheries, wildlife science, marine science, environmental engineering, land use or environmental planning, or other relevant field;
    OR An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience with natural resource management and habitat restoration.
  • Grant and contract management and budgetary experience.
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple partners and funding sources.
  • Experience leading and facilitating an interdisciplinary team or work groups to achieve desired and productive outcomes.
  • Basic use of Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex or controversial information in a way that is understandable and non-confrontational.
  • Ability to organize efficiently and develop or use systems for tracking implementation and accomplishments of several complex projects.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks at different stages.
  • Ability to seek and act on opportunities to improve, streamline, and re-invent work processes.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships, to build rapport and partner with local, state, and federal governmental agencies, tribes, funders, and the public regarding issues pertaining to habitat protection and restoration.
  • Commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
