Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.

Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 243 projects in 129 countries and has committed USD 13.5 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Position Objective
The Web Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating, managing and sharing knowledge with Partners through GCF websites, the Fund’s flagship communications tools. S/he will be instrumental in advancing the GCF Communications Strategy and contribute to  shaping the public profile of the Fund. This role will contribute to  the development of user-friendly websites that are easy to navigate, innovative, and has a strong visual presence which reflects the image and brand voice of the Fund across multi-channel platforms.

 

Duties and responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Head of Communications, s/he will be responsible for: 
Build and coordinate

  • Adapt and implement a refreshedonline presence of GCF; 
  • Contribute to  scope, deliverables, and schedule of all website projects. Establish parameters for front- and back-end development; 
  • Coordinate web product developments, ensure timeliness of services and deliverables, quality of applications, and consistency with GCF’s brand voice on the web; 
  • Contribute to  outreach, advocacy and partnership opportunities to increase readership of GCF’s online presence;
  • Supervise external service providers for timely delivery in line with GCF and industry standards
  • Ensure editorial delivery is timely and consistent with the GCF Communications Strategy and according to established guidelines; 

    

Collaborate

  • Guide website team to ensure smooth running of web operations and coordination of all aspects of web content, which is planned to become multilingual; 
  • Work closely with staff across all divisions and offices, as well as with GCF Partners to develop new content for the GCF website; 
  • Work closely with Website Developers, Software Engineers (Web Applications), Communications Designers and Writers to adapt , design and launch new web features and projects, including interactive components and microsites; 

 

Learn and innovate

  • Keep abreast of advancements in technology and digital communications 
  • Makes recommendations on web tools/software/technologies and services to enhance GCF’s digital presence; present a point of view
  • Support data driven decision making; analyse web data and prepare status reports for GCF senior management on the GCF website metrics
  • Build team and partners’ knowledge on digital communications through trainings, knowledge sessions or similar 

 

Expected experience and qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business management, website development, external relations, marketing, or a related social science; 
  • Minimum of 9 years’ professional experience in leading major website development / renewal projects; 
  • Experience in the construction and maintenance of complex document management systems that can comply with internationally-recognized audit standards; 
  • Proven understanding of the concepts of developing engaging online user experiences, and web applications that facilitate partnership engagement; 
  • Solid understanding of web design functionality, interaction, site architecture, user interfaces, and navigation across multiple platforms and devices; 
  • Track record in creating solutions that make technical and complex information easily accessible through user-friendly web applications; 
  • Thorough knowledge of industry-standard front- and back-end software and tools; 
  • Bright and innovative as a team leader with the ability to work at a fast pace and under tight deadlines; 
  • Experience in establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds; and 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of another UN language an advantage
