Job Description:

The College of Design, Construction and Planning at the University of Florida is looking for a talented Web designer to join our team. This position would be responsible for development and deployment of college web sites. Expected responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop and implement content using the WordPress CMS platform. Perform analysis and develop clear design and content requirements. Design user interfaces with an emphasis on usability. Ensure content accuracy by working with our schools and departments.

Content Development:
Designs, builds web pages for college web sites
Develops and proposes design concepts for implementation
Maintains content across all college web properties
Designs graphic features online
Ensures high quality web presence and performance
Adheres to industry standards and best practices in website development
Maintains up to date knowledge of and implements best practices in UI/UX

Research and Design:
Collaborates and coordinates with the college’s marketing and communications team to maintain high quality web presence across all programs and projects
Proposes and plans website architecture development
Develops content for SEO and site performance
Identifies and addresses of user requirements based on best practices in UI/UX
Develops and maintains understanding of the college’s audiences
Evaluates design elements to ensure proper structure and compatibility with browsers and devices with an emphasis on usability and user experience
Support data insights with analytics

Code Review and Team Collaboration:
Version control and automated builds (CI) in GIT
Maintain versioning of project dependencies
Review project code
Integrate changing and best practices and standards into existing and upcoming projects

Expected Salary:

$45,600 – $52,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree; or an associate’s degree and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in web design and 2 years of relevant experience in web site development, or other equivalent technical training and experience.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience with user interface (UI) design and wireframing


• Experience with user experience (UX) design



• Self-starter, take initiative, generate ideas, innovative


• Ability to analyze problems, synthesize requirements, research solutions


• Ability to work in a team, good communication skills


• Capable of working on several projects or tasks at the same time


Working Knowledge of:

• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript 


• Bootstrap or Flexbox


• Web content accessibility guidelines


• Responsive web design
