Overview of the Scope
MENAACTION is looking for a web developer to design a platform for fact-checking and verifying fake news, with emphasis on news content about Jordan and/or disseminated in Jordan, as part of MENAACTION’s project, TAQASI, which looks to train Jordanian journalists on how to detect and identify fake news and how to verify and fact-check such content.
The Web Developer will work with the TAQASI project team to ensure the specific requirements for the platform are fulfilled. Overall, MENAACTION expects that the platform has two components:
- Component 1: A blog-based web page where the TAQASI project team can post articles, media, and periodic reports.
- Component 2: An artificial intelligence (AI) powered search engine, where users can paste URLs for news content they wish to fact check. The search engine is expected to generate an automated report for the user’s query in the form of a percentage representing the extent to which the content is likely to be fake. This will be based on a set of criteria/ parameters and their corresponding open-source platforms, which will be provided to the selected web developer to incorporate into the platforms’ back-end.
