Weekend and Night Shelter Worker (Permanent Saturday Night position)

Auberge Shalom pour femmes (ASPF) is a Jewish community-based center addressing the needs of all women and children whose lives have been affected by intimate partner violence regardless of their background or religion. We provide a continuum of professional services in both a shelter setting and in an external counseling office.

PRIMARY  RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide frontline services to shelter clients including telephone intake, telephone support services and referrals and crisis intervention, as needed
• Ensure smooth running of shelter during shift
• Participate in staff meetings every 10-12 weeks
• Work as part of a diverse team using a trauma-and-resilience-informed approach

QUALIFICATIONS

• AEC or DEC in social services or related area of study
• Bilingual in French and English
• Knowledgeable about intimate partner violence and women’s issues
• Experience working with cultural sensitivity
• Flexibility and ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
• Work experience in related field
• Understanding of the Jewish community and its customs (asset)
• Ability to communicate in a third language (asset)

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Position Type: Part-time, permanent
• Start Date: As soon as possible
• Starting Salary: $24.56/ Daytime hours and $19.65 / Night hours

Additional shifts available as on-call emergency back-up (day & overnights & weekends) 

• Work Schedule: Saturday evening from 5:00 PM to 9:30 AM Sunday morning (option for every second Saturday, from 5:00 PM to 9:30 AM Sunday morning)
