UNSW Clubs are at the heart of student life on campus. We are responsible for one of the largest Clubs programs in Australia – With over 330 affiliated clubs, and 2000 club executives, we provide opportunities for Clubs who in the past year have held over 8000 events with over 100,000 attendees.

About the role

The Clubs Wellbeing & Training Coordinator will be an integral part of the UNSW Clubs Team, helping to oversee the implementation of Arc Clubs’ welfare, risk and compliance policy while also helping students navigate issues within their clubs through targeted support and training initiatives.

You will be responsible for triaging and assisting with grievances from Clubs and their members, as well as creating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders both internally within Arc and externally within the wider UNSW community.

This role would be ideal for someone who is passionate about student welfare, who is caring and compassionate and who can understand and empathise with students in sensitive situations.

Responsibilities

  • Triage and manage incoming grievances from student groups and other relevant stakeholders
  • Oversee grievance policy and assist with stronger reporting of grievances to relevant structures and bodies.
  • Implement targeted welfare campaigns and support for clubs, their members and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the promotion of a strong and robust risk and compliance culture within Clubs and aligning this with the overall strategic objectives of Arc.
  • Create and implement ongoing series of training opportunities for Club Executives and other student leaders
  • Track completion of mandatory executive training, ensuring all Club Executives have completed training according to requirements

The successful applicant will have:

  • Familiarity with issues surrounding student welfare, risk, EDI or similar.
  • Sensitivity and empathy for students and young people and their lived experience.
  • Experience with the handling and responding to sensitive incidents
  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people, especially students in a student-oriented environment
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills including proven skills in relationship building and training of students and/or staff
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict management
  • Ability to create, organise and implement new programs and ideas and plan ahead
  • A current Working with Children Check

We are also looking for these attributes (desirable, not compulsory)

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in Social Work, Youth Work or Counselling
  • Experience with student or community engagement, especially with Clubs or collectives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the University of New South Wales, Arc, and its activities
  • Proven experience with drafting and reviewing policies, and establishing new procedures
  • Proven understanding and experience in cultural diversity issues, awareness, promotion, and advocacy
  • A current NSW provisional or above Driver’s License
