Organizational Context

The WFP Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO), based in Nairobi, Kenya, is part of the Global Headquarters. Within ESARO, the Global Corridor Coordination team under Supply Chain and Delivery (SCD) Division coordinates reliable and efficient corridor operations and directly manages the South Africa/Durban Corridor operations.

The Corridor Operations unit is responsible for ensuring the timely and reliable delivery of food and non-food items across the region through regional corridor management, as well as the direct operation of the South Africa/Durban Corridor.

The Logistics Officer – Regional Corridor Coordination works under the supervision of the Logistics Officer for Corridor Operations.

Job Purpose

To lead the South Africa/Durban corridor operations for its reliable and efficient delivery of the food and non-food-items.

To contribute to efficient and reliable regional corridor coordination.

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)
South Africa/Durban Corridor Operations Supervision

• Develop and implement infrastructure and labour mobilization plans to support South Africa/Durban Corridor operations.
• Lead the annual budgeting and reconciliation exercise for South Africa/Durban Corridor operations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with corporate financial standards.
• Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reconciliation of inventory data across all systems.
• Oversee physical inventory counts, including planning, coordination, validation, and reporting of results.
• Supervise transport operations, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements and performance standards.
• Oversee timely and accurate registration of logistics service receipts in the corporate system.
• Lead coordination with suppliers and partners, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and effective stakeholder engagement.
• Manage Durban corridor performance through KPI tracking, regular reporting, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve operational bottlenecks or risks affecting South Africa/Durban corridor operations efficiency.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, resilience, and environmental sustainability.
• Document and share lessons learned and best practices from South Africa/Durban corridor operations to support institutional learning.
• Provide technical and operational support to the Logistics Officer for Global Corridor Operations, as required.

Regional Corridor Coordination

• Contribute to regional corridor coordination to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
• Support Corridor Operations Lead as needed.

Expected Key Deliverables

• Effective implementation of the South Africa/Durban corridor infrastructure, labour, and resource mobilization plan.
• Accurate financial planning and reconciliation, ensuring full budget compliance and transparency.
• Reliable inventory and transport data with verified physical counts and quality assurance in place.
• Efficient and compliant logistics operations, including transport documentation, service receipt registration, and supplier management.
• Regular performance monitoring and reporting on Durban corridor KPIs, with actionable insights and corrective measures.
• Continuous improvement initiatives implemented to enhance operational efficiency, resilience, and environmental sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications s Experience

• Education: University Degree in finance, accounting, or supply chain or related field of study.
• Experience: Practical experience in supply chain and logistics.
• Languages: Fluency in English (oral and written).

Desired Knowledge s Skills

• Good knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain operations.
• Familiarity with WFP systems (WINGS/ LESS /SAP, invoice tracking).
• Familiarity with WFP regional/global corridor operations.
• Ability to liaise effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders
