SUMMARY

This position is responsible for developing relationships with corporations and foundations to provide financial support for WGVU Public Media events, programming, initiatives, and operations.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major corporate and foundation donors to increase gifts to WGVU Public Media.
  • Actively maintain a mix of philanthropic event and program sponsorships, as well as media underwriting.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to develop funding opportunities for corporate and foundation donors via special events and program underwriting. 
  • Develop and manage a significant portfolio and pipeline of corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Actively engage in working to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with corporate and foundation sectors.
  • Meet with prospective and current corporate and foundation donors and develop and maintain excellent working relationships with current and prospective donors and colleagues across WGVU.
  • Participate in the drafting of case statements, talking points, and other materials required for campaigns and projects.
  • Participate in the creation of proposals, grant applications, and reports to corporations and foundations.
  • Work closely with WGVU philanthropy, marketing, education, and content creation teams.
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • High School Diploma AND five (5) years related work experience – OR – Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years related work experience.
    • Experience in non-profit fundraising, sponsorship, and event development.
    • Database and reporting software experience.
    • Experience working with members/donors and ability to identify a diverse donor prospect pool.
    • Experience with successfully coordinating large projects.
    • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Typing and spelling competency with grammar and proofreading skills.
    • Experience with various computer software applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, etc).

    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work within a collaborative multiplatform culture and environment.
    • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and work self-sufficiently with little direction when required.
    • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to work on location as needed.

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Experience in Public Media.

    Salary: $45-52,000, commensurate with experience
