The main objective is to provide technical supportto addressing health through the life course, strengthening primary health careand integrated people-centred delivery of essential health services. This is achieved through the formulation, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based policies, guidelines, strategies, and programmes aimed at reducing themorbidity, disability, and mortality of new-borns, children, adolescents,women, men, and the elderly thus contributing to the achievement of the national health goals and the sustainable development goals.
Theincumbent will have the following assigned responsibilities/duties: Lead in the development of immunization policies, implementation guidance, capacity-building and impact-monitoring, and strengthen and expand immunization systems along the life course with new vaccines, technologies, partnerships and interventions; Accelerate efforts in the control of prioritized vaccine-preventable diseases such as polio, measles, rubella, hepatitis B and maternal and neonatal tetanus, and respond to disease outbreaks; Strengthen the surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases through laboratory networks to collect, analyse and disseminate good-quality information on vaccine-preventable diseases; Provide liaison between the Programme Manager, counterparts and other WHO country offices on activities, facilitating partnership and coordination between the Ministry of Health and Wellness and partners involved in the EPI; Provide technical support to the Ministry of Health and Wellness in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring/evaluation of policies, strategies, plans, standards and guidelines on child and adolescent health; Coordinate maternal and newborn health care activities Advise the national maternal and newborn health task force in the development of strategies for maternal and newborn health including Family planning. Provide support to scaling up key innovations to reduce maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity in line with the Global strategy on Women’s, Children’s, Adolescents’ Health 2016-2030 Provide technical support to Ministry of Health and Wellness in designing, implementation and monitoring policies and programmes addressing the needs of older people aligned to the Global Strategy on Healthy Ageing 2020-2030 Strengthen collaboration between UN agencies, bi- and multilateral partners, international NGOs, civil society organizations and young people involved in child and adolescent health activities; Provide technical support for operational research and surveillance on the various aspects of child and adolescent health, including documentation and dissemination of good practices in this field Provide technical assistance for the implementation of maternal and newborn health including family planning interventions Participate in monitoring and evaluation of maternal and newborn health including family planning programmerPerformany other duties as required for the success of the programme
Essential: University degree in ahealth-related field, medicine, public health or other related field from anaccredited/recognized institute.
Desirable: Advanced degree inMedicine/Public Health
Essential: At leastfive (5) years of progressivelyresponsible professional experience in developing immunization, child health,adolescent and reproductive health policies linked to high quality immunization,child, maternal, newborn, and reproductive health care programmes. Within thisexperience, demonstrated professional experience working at the country levelproviding technical advice and services to national counterparts, Ministry ofHealth, and other external partners on immunization, child health and reproductivehealth programmes.
Desirable: Relevantwork experience with WHO and/or UN agencies, health cluster partners;experience working in relevant nongovernmental or humanitarian organizations
Proven knowledge of RMNCAH management within thecontext of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ability to conductresearch and analyze results, identify issues, formulate opinions, and makeconclusions and recommendations for strengthening health care systems. Good knowledge of RMNCAH health services and safetyregulations.Commitment to implementing the goal of gender equalityby ensuring the equal participation and full involvement of women and men inall aspects of work. .

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at ERN 409,725 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
