Following the recent emergency situation, the need for a Reporting Officer at the WHO office for the occupied Palestinian territories is underscored by several critical factors. Firstly, the unprecedented increase in donor grants, currently totaling $52 million, with an additional $47 million in the pipeline from over 18 donors, necessitates meticulous management and reporting, for which WHO oPt currently does not have a dedicated officer.
The Reporting Officer would ensure effective communication with donors, providing detailed, accurate reports on the utilization of funds and the impact of their contributions, both in qualitative and quantitative terms. Moreover, the escalation of health-related challenges due to the conflict demands rigorous monitoring and evaluation of projects to assess effectiveness and guide strategic planning. The Reporting Officer would also ensure compliance with diverse donor requirements and standards, maintaining transparency and accountability essential for building trust among donors and stakeholders.
Furthermore, the Reporting Officer where necessary support in the creation of concept notes and donor proposals for both Gaza and the West Bank for the offices continued effort to resource mobilise further funds and supplies to support the ongoing crisis. In a region facing complex health and humanitarian issues, the role of a Reporting Officer becomes crucial for the effective functioning and responsiveness of the WHO office to the evolving needs post conflict.
*Purpose of the position:
The reporting officer will support WHO’s WHE- Trauma & Emergency Care Programme and the wider WHO office by documenting and reporting on activities at different levels of interventions (pre-hospital, hospital and tertiary level services), producing reports, concept notes and proposals, that highlight WHO work within the occupied Palestinian territories and respond to the requirements of donors and their grants. This position is urgently needed given the ongoing 2023 escalation and devastating repercussions for health in Gaza.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Essential: First university degree in communication, journalism, international relations, social sciences, public health, medicine or related field from an accredited/recognized institute.
Desirable: Studies or experience in professional writing in English, external relations, public affairs and media relations.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential: At least two years’ experience in writing reports and proposals on humanitarian crises, health services, emergency preparedness and response relief interventions and risk reduction in public health in the United Nations or any other international organisations.
Desirable: Experience in planning, data analytics and implementing media and communications project tactics, including developing rich media, visuals, and graphics presentations.
FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Excellent English language, verbal and written, communication skills.
Knowledge of WHO’s mandate and goals in emergency response relief or experience in similar positions in the UN or INGOs.
Experience in report writing and monitoring and evaluation.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to conceptualise ideas and promote consensus.
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
Knowledge on the impact of emergencies and crises on social and economic development, and its burden on populations.
Ability to “think outside the box” and to make innovative proposals and reports.
Desirable if experienced in communication.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluency in English, and Arabic.
