Fisheries Management Scotland is seeking to appoint a dynamic and ambitious individual to

role is funded by Crown Estate Scotland for a period of three years.

We are seeking a Wild Salmon Conservation Manager to support Scotland’s District Salmon Fishery
Boards and Rivers and Fisheries Trusts efforts to secure a future for Scotland’s wild Atlantic
salmon, sea trout, freshwater fish and the habitats on which they depend. The successful
individual will also engage with Scottish Government and Agencies at a national level to
support delivery of key strategies and policies. These include the Wild Salmon Strategy,
Biodiversity Strategy, River Basin Management Planning, the Riverwoods Initiative, and the roll
out of reformed agricultural payments. In parallel with our work on Nature Finance, we
anticipate that a key role of the Wild Salmon Conservation Manager will be to support Fisheries
Management Scotland members in developing high quality applications to the resulting fund(s) to
support work to restore the aquatic environment for the benefit of wild Atlantic salmon and sea
trout. This will include projects and actions identified in Fisheries Management Plans which
are due to completion in March 2024.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven project management skills;
  • Proven data and analytical skills;
  • Highly developed communication and collaborative skills and experience in building

    sectors

    Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat).
  • Willingness to travel across Scotland;
  • Access to a motor vehicle and a full driving licence;
  • A good understanding of the fisheries management sector in Scotland, would be an advantage.
