Under limited supervision, the Wild Toledo Landscape Technician will work with the Wild Toledo Coordinator and Wild Toledo Native Landscape designer to perform a variety of duties related to the operation of Wild Toledo’s native landscaping initiative. Candidate will report to the Wild Toledo Coordinator. Landscape sites span a variety of locations including the Toledo Zoo campus as well as municipalities, schools, corporations, and private residences throughout the region. The Toledo Zoo is an EOE and a drug/alcohol free workplace.
- Routine tasks in clude landscape site preparation, organization of plant inventory, plant installation, mulching, pruning, weeding, use of small power equipment, and record keeping
- Technicians will be cross-trained on all other Wild Toledo initiatives to prvide occasional coverage and a wider range of experience and skills
- Traveling to various locations throughout NW Ohio and SE Michigan areas
- Some minimal travel over one hour away in a day
- Expected to work in regular field conditions that may include heat, humidity, rain, insect bites, and stings
- Preference will be given to current biology students as well as those with degrees in the field
- Some weekend work required
Qualifications (Required):
- Weekend availability
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be insurable by the Zoo’s fleet insurance carrier
