Wilderness/Trailhead Ranger

Have you ever imagined working while backpacking in the iconic High Sierra wilderness of Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks? We are currently looking to fill 3-4 more trailhead ranger positions for the upcoming summer! SEKI’s trailhead rangers are much like those called wilderness or backcountry rangers at other national parks. Our trailhead rangers spend about half of their workdays on overnight (~2-5 days) wilderness patrols in the High Sierra and the other half at frontcountry permit stations, where they help visitors plan backpacking trips. The highest, most dramatic areas of High Sierra wilderness are in Sequoia/Kings, including the Rae Lakes Loop, High Sierra Trail, Mt. Whitney, and Mineral King. We have a unique wilderness program to which some have returned for over 40 seasons! 

Anticipated work season: 5/11-9/30.

Required medical training: minimum NREMR (National Registry Emergency Medical Responder), EMT preferred. EMR or EMT required prior to beginning work.  Our work season includes an EMT Refresher (24 hours) and other trainings. Must have experience backpacking prior to applying.
