Salary: $3,811.00 – $5,117.00 Monthly

Responsibilities:

This position will work with the other Initial Attack Dispatch Supervisors (“IA Supervisors”) at NEWICC, each supervises a geographic dispatch zone (West and East), overseeing the work of 3-6 seasonal Initial Attack Dispatchers. Under the direction of the Dispatch Operations Coordinator and center management staff, coordinates the dispatching of closest fire resources to emerging incidents, and ensures dispatchers conform to the rules, laws, policies, and procedures of all interagency dispatch partners. Liaises with agency Duty Officers to ensure accurate resource lineups and sufficient resource coverage throughout the dispatch area to respond to new reports of fire. Coordinates radio frequency management within the dispatch center, assigning and adjusting radio coverage among IA Dispatchers to ensure consistent 

Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reporting of fire data to both state and national data systems, and validating the completeness and accuracy of dispatch staff’s work, providing corrective guidance as needed. Provides first-level administrative management support for the Northeast Region fire program by overseeing records retention; assisting in roster and directory updates, disseminating wildfire incident data, processing burn permit applications, and coordinating project work within the dispatch center

IA Supervisors also oversee the IA Dispatcher training program, develop training plans and simulations, ensure lesson comprehension, and provide corrective feedback and supplemental training as needed. Develop pre-season expectations for seasonal dispatch staff, provide interim performance feedback, and complete end-of-season performance evaluations.

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • One season as Wildland Dispatcher 3;
    OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
